Spurs Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight at home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when the keeper lost possession far outside his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a high pass and took the ball near the sideline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments later when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs supporters jeered him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

One of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our fans apparently booed the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough booing after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a early advantage before Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I know the part the keeper is performing. He is a excellent team player, he's a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italy national team the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

He said following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on the team to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad defeat and it's hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second longest-range top division score of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

Ten seconds elapsed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for ages," Wilson said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them covered the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to make the correct connection and get it on target. I had a positive sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's error led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to continue their home ground woes.

This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared team statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.

Only one of those victories have occurred since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the opening was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

And they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a single campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
