Preview this Reimagined Legendary Journey: This Free Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.
Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait much longer. A highly anticipated trial experience is set to become available on the seventh of January, providing a sizable taste into the game's initial chapters. Importantly, any save data achieved within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent debut.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Overhaul
This project represents a ground-up reimagining of the iconic year 2000 JRPG, originally known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct step away from recent series re-releases, such as the recently launched HD-2D versions, this version embraces a charming three-dimensional art style. Locales have been crafted to evoke detailed miniature worlds, with party members having a whimsical chibi-esque design.
"Taking into account the 3DS port, the main quest was still exceptionally extended. Consequently, the team reached a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for contemporary players."
Major Gameplay Enhancements and Updates
Square Enix has added numerous changes to refresh the original gameplay loop. These include:
- Streamlined Field Battles: Similar to modern role-playing games, low-level monsters can now be dispatched instantly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a full turn-based combat sequence.
- Variable Combat Speed: Gamers can speed up combat animations to rapidly power through easier fights.
- Expanded Vocation System: One brand new character role has been created for this remake. Additionally, party members gain the ability to take on a second job, significantly enhancing customization possibilities.
Such changes seek to mitigate a key the original title's frequent criticisms: its daunting playtime. The original main quest was known to require more than 100 hours to finish. This new version was expressly designed to enhance progression and cut down on any filler.
