Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.
PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different times.
The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.
However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.
Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
